grounds of the Hopewell Community Center
7290 Co. Rd. 16, Centre, AL
Due to the coronavirus restrictions and social distancing, this year’s event honoring our farmers will take on the flair of an old fashioned drive-in theatre, and is sure to be a fun filled outing for the entire family.
Patrons will enter the community center property from Co. Rd. 16 where they will purchase a meal ticket for a suggested donation of $7 each (that includes a ticket for the door prize drawing). Participants will drive to the Kerr Fellowship Hall where a picnic style dinner of BBQ pork, baked beans, slaw, bread and canned soda or water will be delivered to the car. Homemade desserts provided by the women’s committee of the ALFA Farmers Federation will be included with the meal.
After the meal pick up, participants will be directed to drive to the front of the community center, park in a drive-in theatre style to enjoy their picnic food and visit with neighbors parked nearby. At approximately 7 p.m., the brief program will include the flag ceremony, an inspirational reading of “And, God made the Farmer” by Paul Harvey, and recognition of this year’s farming awards. The event will close with a drawing for door prizes and a brief patriotic fireworks display.
